Passover Traditions

The festivals of spring are a time of familiar traditions. Just as family activities and religious services inspire our minds and hearts, our senses of taste and smell reawaken with the foods of our family celebrations.

Passover is celebrated by eating both traditional and symbolic foods. Brisket, roast chicken or roast leg of lamb are some of the popular main meat courses for modern day Passover feasts.

Experiencing the holidays with family and friends is customary for Passover celebrations including gatherings in the home and the preparation of a family meal. The traditional Passover meal – known as a Seder – is an elaborate celebration in most Jewish homes.  It is common to invite guests to share the Seder meal, especially newcomers to the community.

Introduce some new flavor into your family’s traditional Passover menu with these recipes:

Mini Sweet Potato Knishes
Rosemary Roasted Lamb with Apricot-Citrus Sauce
Spiced Pineapple-Carrot Kugel
Mixed Endive Salad with Vanilla-Pear Vinaigrette and Toasted Walnuts
