Sipping aquas frescas on a hot summer day with a meal or as an afternoon refreshment is a wonderful Mexican tradition. Whirl fruity aquas frescas ahead of time so they’re ready to serve over ice. Made with three types of citrus fruit, this version is an excellent source of vitamin C. Hint: you can make aquas frescas with berries, melon, peaches or mangos. Make use of any canned fruit you have on hand!Ingredients:Juice of 6 limes
1 can (11 ounces) Mandarin oranges
1 can (8 ounces) pink grapefruit
2 1/2 cups ice-cold water
2 tablespoons sugar (or more for a sweeter flavor)
Ice cubes
Mint for garnish
Preparation Time: Approximately 5 minutes
Preparation:Whirl lime juice, oranges, grapefruit and 1 cup water in a blender. Pour into a pitcher. Add remaining 1 1/2 cups water and sugar; stir until the sugar is dissolved. Serve over ice. Garnish each glass with mint.Servings: 6
