Enjoy a tropical twist on an old Parisian favorite – blended with the convenience of canned tropical fruit salad, right from your pantry!

Ingredients:

1 ounce (2 tablespoons) canned tropical fruit salad in natural juices (from a 15-ounce can)*
1 fresh lemon (save rind for lemon twist as garnish)
1/2 fresh orange
1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) simple syrup or 1 tablespoon sugar
1 dash bitters
1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) premium cognac
1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) premium Triple Sec
Ice
Sugar, lemon wedge and lemon twist for garnish (optional)

Equipment:
Martini shaker or pint glass
Shaking tin
Cocktail strainer
Blender


Preparation:

Do ahead: In a blender, purée entire can of fruit salad.

To make one cocktail drink: Juice lemon and orange, and pour into martini shaker. Add simple syrup, bitters, cognac, Triple Sec and fruit salad purée. Fill martini shaker with ice and shake vigorously 10 times. Pour into martini glass with or without sugar rim and garnish.

Optional: To rim martini glass with sugar, first coat a plate or saucer with sugar. Then rub fresh lemon wedge around the rim of the glass to wet it. Dip rim of glass into sugar to coat the rim. Strain cocktail into chilled, sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

*Note: One, 15-ounce can of tropical fruit salad in natural juices makes 15 drinks.

**Note: Higher-proof cognac contributes more calories; Triple Sec is commonly 48 proof.
